ISSUE 1
 2000 MID YEAR

It has been a mixed, yet interesting, first half of the year for all in the construction industry. Y2K and the projected turmoil which never developed. A jittery Federal Reserve. A year that has seen the financial markets and the construction boom of the last several years, slow dramatically. An election year with the carnival of distractions. Implementation of new OSHA regulations, and impending enforcement of existing MSHA training standards. A year of low unemployment and a deficit of skilled labor. A year of soaring fuel costs. A new Florida standard building code and clean air and water acts.

All has not been rosy in the construction industry, however, Ironwood has managed to grow. With a slightly reduced volume of work, we have experienced only a minimal reduction of force in the field and have filled several managerial positions.

Ironwood has hired a new Office Manager, Mrs. Renee Hammitt, a new Safety Director, Mr. John Cook, and a new Superintendent, Mr. Emory Baggett. We have networked our estimating, book keeping, and project management to be more efficient in cost control, assets management and intra-office communication. Ironwood has implemented a continuous and comprehensive safety training program and a monthly safety awards program. We have constructed our website at www.ironwoodconstructionco.com.

Ironwood has maintained our excellent working relationship with many of our clients by continuing to meet, and often exceed, their construction and maintenance goals.

What will the remainder of the year hold for us in the construction industry? Will the markets stabilize and the previous growth in new construction and expansions begin anew? How will a new administration affect our industry? Will there be more stringent regulations and stronger ties to organized labor? Will fuel costs plane, plummet, or soar?

The answers to each of these questions will have direct bearing upon the construction industry. The outcome is in the future.

We'll keep you posted.
